With nicknames like the “Prince of Piano” and the “Magician of Melody” Maksim is a definite treat for the ears. Bringing you a version of classical music like you’ve never heard before, his appeal spreads across all generations. His unique musical style of fusing classical music with contemporary rock and pop, he easily wins the hearts of music enthusiasts around the globe.
Hailed as “The finest pianist since Liszt ” by The Tokyo Times, his charisma and image have earned him global appeal, and performances on stages varying from beauty pageants to the MTV awards, the Beijing Olympic Celebrations, and even CCTV’s New Year’s Eve Celebration TV show which was broadcast via satellite to over 250 million people Worldwide.
Maksim makes his exciting return to Singapore on November 26 at the Esplanade.
His first album Gestures, released in 1999, brought him his first wave of fame. However, he found real success in 2003 with his second album The Piano Player, in which he gave new life to classic compositions by Handel and Chopin. It also contained what has become his signature piece: an energetic version of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight Of The Bumblebee.
The album was particularly well received in Asia, where it achieved Gold status in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, while going Platinum in Taiwan and Croatia, and Double Platinum in Hong Kong, sitting in the number 1 slot in the HMV international pop chart for twelve consecutive weeks. His most recent album Appassionata, was released in 2011.
