Everything that I do creatively has to make me work harder and hopefully steer me in a direction I’ve never been before. If it’s easy, then the excitement is gone; I don’t like to be bored and comfortable when it comes to my music. I like to challenge myself and all those around me to be the very best creatively.
My creativity as a solo artist took center stage with my debut album, Dangerously In Love. I was the songwriter, the producer and the artist. The full range of artistic vision taught me so much about myself and helped redefine me as a person in the process. On top of being able to tour the world and share my music, I was blessed by winning five Grammy Awards for this album.
Since wrapping up my first solo tour in 2004, I’ve been going non-stop. In 2005, Destiny’s Child said goodbye with Destiny Fulfilled, a farewell tour and the Greatest Hits Collection #1’s. That same year my mother, Tina Knowles, and I launched a fashion collection called House of Deréon, named for my maternal grandmother, Agnez Deréon. In 2006 we launched a hip and trendy fashion collection, Deréon, a collaboration with my sister, Solange Knowles.
The musicality and creativity present throughout everything surrounding B’Day is the inspiration behind forming my ten – piece all female band, “Suga Mama.” Working with all of these women is wonderful; They’re all incredibly talented. I am very excited to tour the world and share my music with my fans. I hope you enjoy the show!
